History

The earliest historical listing of neck ties is in Ancient Egypt.

The Egyptians tied a rectangular piece of cloth which hung down from their shoulders.   This cloth became a very important piece of dress wear because it showed their social status.

Emperor Shi Huang Ti of the Qin dynasty is buried in China surrounded by statues.    These statues bear a piece of cloth around their necks.   Therefore making ties a huge symbol of strength.

Neck ties became popular in Europe around the 17th century with the Croatian soldiers.

Why did mens ties become popular?   What’s special about tying a piece of cloth around your neck?   This cloth was a vital fashion statement much as it is today.
